Sugar Mountain Resort, North Carolina. Tuesday, August 11, 2026 – Dust off your Dirndl and lace up your Lederhosen for Sugar Mountain Resort’s 36th annual Oktoberfest celebration, Saturday & Sunday, October 10 & 11 from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Festival goers will enjoy stunning fall foliage, crisp mountain temperatures, and a weekend full of family fun activities. Admission, parking, and shuttle service are free.
The Harbour Towne Fest Band, celebrating 22 years of performing at Sugar’s Oktoberfest, will bring the sounds of Bavaria to Sugar Mountain. They will have your hands clapping and your feet dancing as you sing along to beer-toasting tunes. Bratwurst, knockwurst, sauerkraut, strudel, pretzels, hot dogs, hamburgers, soda, and other festive foods will delight your appetite. And Bavaria’s Spaten Oktoberfest beer will flow richly.
Hayrides, corn hole, pumpkin bowling, water balloon tossing, fun times with Sugar and Sweetie Bear, and an array of bounce houses will entertain the little ones all day long. Guests of every age can enjoy gliding from Sugar Mountain’s 4,100’ base to its 5,300’ peak aboard the Summit Express chairlift. Spectacular views can be seen along the ride and from the mountain’s peak. Do not leave home without your traditional attire because everyone is encouraged to dorn a dirndl or lederhosen for the Saturday afternoon Bavarian costume contest. Local & regional arts & crafts and fun food vendors will sprawl their wares on the grounds of Sugar Mountain Ski Resort. Winter-weather-wear will be available at the Sugar Mountain Sports & Gift Shop while Bavarian knick-knacks can be purchased on-site.
