Season Dates

The opening and closing dates of our winter season vary each year according to weather, but we generally strive to be open by Thanksgiving and we remain open until the end of March. View historic opening and closing dates on our stats page.

Winter Lift & Slope Session Times
Day Session: 9:00am – 4:30pm
Half-Day Session: 12:30 – 4:30pm
Twilight Session: 12:30 – 10:00pm (closed 4:30 – 6:00pm)
Night Session: 6:00 – 10:00pm
Christmas Eve: 9:00am – 4:30pm
Christmas Day: 12:00 – 10:00pm (closed 4:30 – 6:00pm)
Tubing: 10:00am – 10:00pm (session times may vary)
*8:00am Tubing session available during MLK and President’s Day Saturday and Sunday only
Ice Skating: 10:00am – 10:00pm (session times may vary)
Office Hours
Ski Season: 8:00am – 5:00pm, Daily
Off Season: 8:00am – 4:00pm, Monday – Friday
Lift/Slope Ticket Hours
Full Day lift/slope tickets go on sale at 8:00am. Twilight & Half Day lift/slope tickets go on sale at 12:00pm, Night lift/slope tickets go on sale at 5:00pm.

A presale lift/slope pass may be purchased for $3 at the lift ticket windows, this pass contains no valid permissions. It may be reloaded up to two days in the future with the sessions of your choosing.

Group Sales Ticket Hours
Full Day lift/slope tickets go on sale at 8:00am (7:30 on weekends and holiday) and may also be purchased the night before from 7:00 to 7:30pm. Twilight & Half Day lift/slope tickets available at 12:00pm, Night lift/slope tickets available at 5:00pm.

Tubing Tubing
When conditions permit, tubing sessions are 1 hour and 45 minutes long. Sessions times are: 10am, 12pm, 2pm, 4pm, 6pm, 8pm. In addition 8:00am Tubing sessions are available during MLK and President’s Day Saturday and Sunday only. Some sessions may be closed for grooming and maintenance, please check the tubing page page for the latest information.
Ice Skating Ice Skating
The Sugar Mountain Resort ice skating rink generally operates from early November through March, weather permitting. Skate sessions are one and a half hours long and are offered daily at 10:00am, 12:00pm, 2:00pm, 4:00pm, 6:00pm, and 8:00pm. Some sessions may be closed for maintenance, please check the ice skating page for the latest information.
Snowshoeing Snowshoeing
A snowshoe guided tour can be a casual walk or an intense workout in a wonderful winter wonderland. Our guides will accommodate your needs. Each tour is one hour long and includes a snowshoe rental. Tours are available Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 3:00pm; Saturdays at 9:00am and 3:00pm. Adult tours are for ages 12 and older. Children’s tours are available for 8-11 year olds. Based on instructor availability, group tours are available on demand for groups of 4-15. Sign up at least 15 minutes prior to your scheduled tour time in the Ski and Snowboard School building.

 

Trail System

Sugar Mountain Resort features 125 acres of skiable terrain. The 20 slopes are serviced by 1 High Speed Detachable Six Passenger Chairlift, 2 High Speed Detachable Four Passenger Chairlifts, 1 Fixed Grip Four Passenger Chairlift, 2 Fixed Grip Double Chairlifts, 2 Magic Carpets (1 – beginner area, 1 – Tubing). 14 of the slopes are lit for night skiing/snowboarding. In the summer the Summit Express and Easy Street chairlifts operate for foot passengers and Mountain Bikers and are equipped with mountain bike racks.

Safety

Sugar Mountain Resort is concerned about safety. Please be aware of all signs and warnings posted. For winter activities, read through the safety policies. Be Aware!

Proper Equipment

To access any slope and ride any lift proper equipment is required which includes metal edges, retaining straps or brakes, bindings, and a minimum length of 70 cm. Ski Bikes are not allowed. Sledding is strictly prohibited on Sugar Mountain Resort property. Any sleds will be confiscated.

 

Summer Season

Scenic summer lift-rides are available Memorial Day Weekend and the 4th of July weekend through September.

Bike Park includes its signature expert terrain and beginner and intermediate trails. Varying line option choices from the summit to the base include rollers, small dips, table tops, and other fun features.

The Summit Crawl Sugar Mountain Summit Crawl is held annually the 4th of July. Climb to Sugar’s 5’300’ peak as fast as you can via Easy Street, Gunther’s Way and Northridge.

Fourth of July Fireworks on Top of Sugar Mountain
A mountain-top, fireworks show, sponsored by the Village of Sugar Mountain Tourism Development Authority, viewed from Sugar’s 5,300’ peak begins around 9:15 p.m.

Gravity Mountain Bike Camp for teens and tweens. Three days of fun, friends, and developing and improving their gravity skills. Camps are held in July and August.

Oktoberfest is held annually the second weekend in October. Activities from 10 am until 5 pm. Admission, parking and shuttle service are free!
