The littlest of our skiing visitors can ski free. Not a bad deal, eh? All
kids 4 & under can come with their parents to the administration office
and get a free lift ticket upon approval. Parents or guardians must accompany
the children and will be required to purchase a lift ticket for themselves.
This doesn't count rentals or lessons though, you'll still have to pay for that.
The free tickets are available any session of the year, 7 days a week! So
parents...bring the whole family!
At night the Administration office is closed, so to get the free ticket,
parents must bring the kids to the information desk on the lower level right
next to the sports shop.
Private ski/snowboard lessons are available for children of any age. For older
kids, starting at age 5, Sugar Mountain has the Sugar Bear Ski School program.
A ski program for children 5 to 10 years old for only $75 includes lift ticket,
rental equipment, lessons, lunch and supervision. Registration is located in
the Children's Learning Center from 8:30 to 9:30am (don't be late) with session
lasting from 10am to 3pm.
There is also a half-day version of the Sugar Bear program for only $57 that
runs from 1pm to 3pm with registration running from 12:30 to 1pm. The half-day
Sugar Bear program includes everything the full-day does except lunch.
For kids ages 7 to 14 interested in snowboarding, Sugar has the Polar Bear
Snowboard School. It includes lift ticket, rental equipment, lessons and lunch.
Session and registration times are the same as the Sugar Bear program outlined
above. Prices for the Polar Bear Snowboard School are $125 for full-day, and
$74 for half-day.
You may also pre-register for the Sugar Bear and Polar Bear Full Day programs
the night before from 4:00 to 7:00pm. Please visit the
Ski/Snowboard School page for
more information.
At various times throughout the season, kids will enjoy bumping into the Sugar
Mountain mascot, Sugar Bear. Sugar Bear can be seen wandering throughout the
lodge and out on the slopes.
Every year, Sugar Mountain has a birthday party for Sugar Bear and invites all
of his friends over. It's always a lot of fun for the kids. This year's party
is scheduled for February 21, 2010. All the kids on
the mountain are invited to take part. In the morning, have fun watching Sugar
Bear and his friends (including the kids) take part in the Great Bear Race at
the bottom of the slopes. At around 12:30 or so, there will be cake, ice cream
and more fun in the Children's Learning Center for all kids.
Another fun treat for the kids is the visit of Santa during the holiday season.
This year, you can expect to see him walking around the lodge greeting people,
or even out on the slopes making some turns. Santa will be here December 15-24.
