Summer on Sugar Mountain
Sugar Mountain Ski Resort, North Carolina. Tuesday, May 31, 2016 – Visit Sugar Mountain this summer. Every weekend beginning July 1 and ending Labor Day Sunday from 10am until 5:30pm Sugar’s high-speed, six passenger chairlift, the Summit Express, will transport guest’s to one of North Carolina’s highest peaks and back down again. Taking in the magnificent views of the surrounding mountains, leisurely strolls along the mountain ridge, intensive hikes, family time, alone time, indulging in a picnic, or just breathing in, over and over again the fresh, clean, mountain air are just a few ways to spend time on Sugar Mountain.
Friday, July 1 through Monday, July 4 from 10am until 6pm Sugar Mountain Sport’s Shop will be open offering 30-60% off many items. Saturday, July 2 guests can view many of the High Country’s 4th of July fireworks shows including the Village of Sugar Mountain’s display from Sugar’s 5,300 foot peak. The Summit Express chairlift will operate until 10pm for 4th of July celebration mountain top access.
The Mountain’s forests and open spaces can be explored on foot or mountain bike daily from dawn until dusk through mid-October. Special gathering, meetings, and weddings are hosted throughout the summer season too. The North Carolina Barbecue Society will host another BBQ Boot Camp at Sugar Mountain Resort this July 15 & 16.
And anyone familiar with Sugar Mountain knows about its Oktoberfest. The 26th annual Bavarian themed festival, always the second weekend in October, (October 8 & 9, 2016 from 10am until 5pm) will entertain guests of all ages. The two day event will feature live Bavarian music, and a performance by the Valle Crucis Middle School band, German and American food & beverages, a children’s fun center, hay rides, a local & regional craft fair on the back lawn, lift rides on Sugar’s Summit Express chairlift, a winter sports shop sale, and time with Sugar Bear and Sweetie Bear. Admission, parking and shuttle service are free. Rain, shine, or snow the festival will go on!
Six fast-dry clay tennis courts and an 18 hole executive golf course can be found within the Village of Sugar Mountain.
