Sugar Mountain Resort Will Reopen, Again
Sugar Mountain Ski Resort, North Carolina. Friday, January 1, 2016 – Happy New Year!
Sugar Mountain Resort fired up its arsenal of snowmaking machines last night on the Northridge, Switchback, Upper and Lower Flying Mile, Easy Street and the Magic Carpet slopes and plans to reopen for skiing and snowboarding tomorrow, Saturday, January 2nd for the fifth time this season.
Tomorrow the Summit Express chairlift will swiftly transport guests to Sugar’s 5,300’peak offering access to the Northridge, Switchback, Upper and Lower Flying Mile slopes. Additional slope and lift openings will be announced as they become available. The Sugar Mountain Resort trailmap provides an orientation of the mountain’s layout.
Sugar’s 10,000 square foot outdoor ice rink remains open while snowmaking continues in the tubing park and on the slopes. Snowmakers are working closely with Mother Nature to open the tubing park on Sunday. But she’s in charge so please check the homepage for details.
From 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm on reopening day guests can enjoy the local, acoustic sounds of straight-up, traditional, bluegrass music by Mountain Creek free of charge. At noon on Tuesday, January 5th Septuagenarians are invited to celebrate their skiing and snowboarding spirit. Participants can expect party favors, refreshments and good company. Friday and Saturday, January 8th and 9th from noon until 9:00 pm the EDGE of the WORLD snowboard shop will be slope side, offering free high performance snowboard demos. And on Saturday, January 9th we celebrate national Winter Trails Day. That means free snowshoe guided tours from 9:00 am until 4:00 pm. For a complete listing of events and details visit www.skisugar.com/events.
