Sugar Mountain Ski Resort’s Summit Express ribbon cutting ceremony was celebrated by Governor McCrory and a large crowd of winter fun enthusiasts under cold, clear blue skies, and a picturesque man-made snow covered ground on Saturday, November 14th.
Sugar Mountain Ski Resort located in the Appalachian Mountains of Western North Carolina is open today for skiing and snowboarding. “Today’s opening follows yesterday’s magical ribbon cutting ceremony and celebration of the Summit Express chairlift. Governor McCrory expressed the positive impact Sugar Mountain Resort and snow sports have on the North Carolina economy,” said Owner & President Gunther Jochl.
“What an honor! To have the Governor and Mr. Doppelmayr here to celebrate the accomplishment of a long anticipated goal is exciting and brings great meaning to the efforts of my entire team,” exclaimed Sugar Mountain Resort Owner and President, Gunther Jochl.
This season Sugar Mountain Resort hopes to “wow” its customers with the new Summit Express, a six-seater, detachable, high-speed chairlift manufactured by the Austrian based company, Doppelmayr.
