The Oma’s Meadow chairlift— a high-speed, detachable, four-passenger— is the newest member to join Sugar Mountain Resort’s uphill transportation system. The 2,225’ long Doppelmayr chairlift cuts travel time from nine minutes to just over two minutes and carries 2,400 passengers per hour from the lift’s base elevation of 4,451’ to its summit elevation of 4,915’. Additionally, the new installation makes way for the reconfiguration and widening of the lower portion of the Oma’s Meadow slope, creating a comfortable and roomy loading experience and a clear path for bypassing skier and snowboarder traffic.

There are lots of reasons to grab your beer stein, put on your Lederhosen—or your dirndl—and head to Sugar Mountain Resort Saturday & Sunday, October 8 & 9, 2022 for their 32nd annual Oktoberfest celebration. Take in the beautiful fall foliage, cool, comfortable mountain temperatures, and a weekend full of festival activities from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. each day. Be sure to bring the kids because the event is for the whole family. The celebration marches on wind or rain or shine or snow. Admission, parking, and shuttle service are free of charge.

Food Truck Festival goers will have the chance to eat to their heart’s content, slope side from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m., Saturday, May 28 kicking off Sugar’s summer season.

Sugar Mountain Resort’s sixth annual Summit Crawl, a sturdy hike to the mountain’s 5,300-foot peak via Easy Street, Gunther’s Way, and Northridge slopes, kicks off at 9 a.m. Monday, July 4 for all competitors.

A local’s favorite and Sugar’s best kept secret, Oma’s Meadow, a wide-open, long-intermediate-cruiser slope, located steps away from Sugar Ski & Country Club, will get the lift it deserves.
