Sugar Mountain Resort Hosts Fifth Annual Sugarfest

SUGAR MOUNTAIN RESORT, NC – SugarFest 2007 kick starts the winter season with a weekend of pure fun! Presented by the Village of Sugar Mountain Tourism Development Authority (TDA) and hosted by Sugar Mountain Resort.  SugarFest will be held Saturday and Sunday, December 15th and 16th, 2007 at Sugar Mountain Ski Resort.

The fifth annual two-day festival is packed with a long list of winter activities.  Both Saturday and Sunday from 9:00 am until 3:30 pm the newest ski & snowboard equipment from just about every manufacturer displayed in store showrooms will be available slope-side for demo.

The Ski & Snowboard Makeover presentation will be held slopeside at 10:00 am on Saturday, December 15th.  Be sure to see BJ Taylor from Hampton, Tennessee and Mary Kathrine Jordan from Fairplay, South Carolina receive their snowboard and ski makeovers.  Everything they need to hit the slopes will be provided by local and national sponsors.  At 11:00 am on Saturday, December 15th Sugar Mountain Resort celebrates the grand opening of Sugar Mountain Resort’s new ice skating rink, located next to the Dave Nixon Pro Shop adjacent to parking lot D.  "Ready get set go!" is what you'll hear if you enter the snowball eating contest at 3:00 pm on Saturday.  You’ll have two minutes to eat as many tasty snowball look a-likes as your stomach can stomach!  Catch a thunderous and spectacular fireworks display at the base of Sugar Mountain Resort, Saturday evening at 5:45 pm.  After a hard day of skiing and snowboarding there’s nothing better than good food, warm drinks, and fun music. Come dance and listen to live music by Boss Hawg from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm.

The Burton/Edge of the World Rail Jam Expression Session will be held on Sunday, December 16th at 12 noon.  Registration begins at 9:00 am.  Watch some of the area's best snowboarders pull off their gnarliest tricks.   Throughout the day marvel at the site of a professional ice sculptor as he transforms blocks of ice into a work of art right before your eyes!

Be sure to stay for a night or two!  Special lodging rates for the weekend are offered by Sugar Ski & Country Club, Sugar Mountain Resort Accommodations & Realty, Resort Real Estate & Rentals, and Sugar Mountain Lodging.  SugarFest - a great time to enjoy winter!  For more information please contact Sugar Mountain Resort at 800-SUGAR MT.  For a complete list of events and times please log onto www.seesugar.com/sugarfest.
